As per the report of the Technical Group by the National Commission, the population of Odisha is projected to be 47,221,000, or 47.22 million, or 4.72 crore, as of July 1, 2026. Odisha is the 11th-most populous state in India. Odisha’s population is projected to reach 4.91 crore in 2036.
The size of the population of Odisha is equivalent to that of Spain, the 34th most populous country in the world. Only two countries in South America and North America, six in Europe, and ten in Africa have more people than Odisha.
In 2026, the sex ratio of the total population in Odisha will be 100.983 males per 100 females. There are 23,726,000, or 23.73 million, or 2.37 crore, males and 23,495,000, or 23.50 million, or 2.35 crore, females in Odisha. Odisha has 231,000, or 231k, more males than females.
