GDP of North America

The North American economy, comprising 24 economies, in 2025 is projected to be around $35.28 trillion in nominal terms, $1.3 trillion more than in 2024, calculated by taking figures from the IMF. North America is the 2nd largest continental economy, accounting for 30.5% of the world's GDP in nominal terms. Moreover, North America is the 3rd largest continental economy after Asia and Europe in PPP methods, accounting for almost 18.58% of global wealth.

The Northern American region has the highest economy ($32.7 trillion) on the continent. 92.6% of the North American GDP is distributed in Northern America, 6.33% in Central America, and 1.07% in the Caribbean.

As per the UN, North America's share of the world economy was a maximum (37.05%) in 1985 and a minimum (25.73%) in 2011. In constant 2015 prices, which gives a better idea about expansion over the years, the North American economy has expanded from $6.07 trillion in 1970 to $25.86 trillion in 2023, or 4.26x.

The highest increment in North American wealth was seen in 1999 when it grew by $697 billion at constant 2015 prices, while the highest reduction of $534 billion was in 2009. The figure moved downward in three years. At current prices, the maximum increment was in 2018 of $1,203 billion, while the biggest decline was in 2009 ($693 billion), the only year the figure moved downward.
