List of South American countries by GDP per capita

Guyana is the richest economy in South America, followed by Uruguay. These two have a GDP per capita of more than 20k US dollars. Five economies would have per capita GDP above $10,000. Venezuela is the poorest economy in South America.

In 2025, Bolivia will surpass Venezuela. None of the South American economies is in the top 40, and only one economy is within the top 50 world GDP per capita rankings.

Out of 12 economies, two South American economies would see a decrease in their per capita income in 2025 compared to 2024. Uruguay will add $1,193 in 2025, followed by Argentina ($836) and Bolivia ($764). Venezuela and Suriname are the two decliners.

In PPP data, Guyana has a GDP per capita of above 50k Int. Dollars. Seven economies would have per capita GDP above Int. $20,000, and all economies have above Int. $8,000. One South American economy is in the top ten richest economies globally, as top-ranked Guyana is in 10th position, the only economy within the top 50 world GDP per capita rankings. Colombia will surpass Suriname in 2025.

Out of 12 economies, none of the South American economies would see a decrease in 2025 compared to 2024. Guyana will add Int. $10,585 in 2025, followed by Uruguay (Int. $1,818) and Argentina (Int. $1,757).
