Projected GDP Ranking

As of 2024, the United States and China will occupy the first two places in both methods' GDP rankings. The US and China's margins are coming down in nominal rankings as China's GDP growth rate in 2024 (4.82%) is higher than the US's 2.77%. On a nominal basis, the US will be ahead of China by $10.9 trillion in 2024. On a ppp basis, China is ahead of the US by Int. $7.9 trillion, and the gap is increasing. China will remain the world's largest economy on a PPP basis over the next few decades, as the second-ranked US is growing slowly and third-ranked India is way behind.

Germany overtook Japan in 2023 to claim the third spot and is now ahead by 640 billion USD. Even India is now behind by only $181 billion and is projected to surpass Japan in 2026.

In the PPP list, the rankings of the top three economies will remain unchanged as the margins between these three are much wider.

In the nominal GDP list, there would be only one change in the top 10 list as Canada would overtake Brazil. Other change in the top 20 would be Türkiye overtaking the Netherlands. Among the top 50, the economic ranks of Colombia would move up by five positions, followed by Iran (+4). while Egypt would lose five places, followed by Denmark by three spots.

In the PPP ranking, there would be no change in the top 20 list. Among the top 50, Argentina will lose two spots.

On the list of the top 50, India is the fastest-growing economy with 7.02%, followed by Vietnam (6.06%). Argentina has the lowest growth rate of -3.48 in 2024.

The United States (1,6) is present in both lists of the top ten GDP and GDP per capita rankings in nominal terms. Germany (3,17), Canada (9,19), Australia (14,12), the Netherlands (18,11), and Switzerland (20,2) are in the top twenty lists of GDP and GDP per capita. In PPP, the United States (2,9) is present in the top ten.
