List of countries by birth rate

With 23 million birth per year, India has the highest number of birth per year in the world due to large populations and significant fertility rates. India is ahead by a margin from China (8.8 million births per year) due to the low fertility rate of China. More than one million people are born per year in 30 countries and 10,000 born per day in eight countries. Holy See have the lowest number of 2 births per year.

With 44.19 yearly births per 1000 people, Central African Republic has the highest birth rate, followed by Chad, Somalia, Niger, and Democratic Republic of the Congo, having figures above 40 births. The crude birth rate refers to the number of births over a given period divided by the person-years lived by the population over that period. It is usually expressed in units of births per 1,000 individuals per year.

Thirty countries/territories have a birth rate over 30, of which the first 8 and a total of 28 belong to Africa. Afghanistan and Yeman are the remaining one.

Holy See (4.10) has the lowest birth rates worldwide, followed by South Korea (4.66). Out of 237 countries/territories projected by the UN, birth rates of 71 countries have below 10.
